AMERICAN FREEDOM ALLIANCE
 
 
AFA is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles whose mission is to identify threats to Western civilization and initiate projects  to support Western values and ideals.  The organization currently focuses on five areas:
 
  • The Islamic penetration of Europe
  • The challenges to academic freedom
  • The identification and sources of media bias 
  •  Radical environmentalism and the global governance movement
  • The necessity for missile defense
  •

    INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES
    • The Collapse of Europe? (June, 2007) , an international conference held at Pepperdine University in Malibu, which gathered some of the greatest minds in Europe and the United States to address the continuing political, social, cultural, and economic crises of the European continent.
    • The succeeding conference, Identity Crisis: Can European Civilization Survive? (March, 2008), held at the University of Rome, Italy, where Catholic, Jewish, and Evangelical Christian world leaders gathered to continue the discussion and to develop strategies and alliances to combat them.
    • How Free is the University? (June, 2008), an international conference held at the University of Southern California featuring academic experts, commentators and political leaders from the United States, Canada, Australia, and United Kingdom, who discussed and debated the growing problems of the assault on academic freedom on college campuses around the world.
    • Remembering Munich: The Legacy of Appeasement (September, 2008), a series of events commemorating the 70th anniversary  of the 1938 Munich Agreement and its implications for our times. It honored former Australian prime minister John Howard with the Winston S. Churchill Medal of Freedom.
    • Permanent Continental Shutdown ( September, 2009) at Niagara Falls in Upstate New York ,where several organizations joined together to host a first ever conference on the threat of an EMP attack upon the United States
    • The Darwin Debates ( October - November, 2009) a five week series of flim screenings, lectures, discussions and debates celebrating the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin's Origins of the Species in order to determine the efficacy of his theories.
    • Shattered Barriers( November 2009)   a seris of events which  celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall

    ANNUAL PROGRAMS   

    • The AFA International Fellowship Program which brings students from Europe to spend time in the United States and discover more about the foundations of American democracy.
    • The Heroes of Conscience Dinner (May 2007, May 2008, June 2009)  - annual events at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley at which individuals from Europe receive awards and publicity for their valor in defending Western values and ideals.
    MONTHLY PROGRAMS
    • monthly speaker series, which offers seminars, colloquia, public discussions, and public debates on a variety of issues from the causes and consequences of anti-Americanism to the role of rock ‘n roll culture in shaping our values and society.
    • The Literary Cafe: a monthly meeting of Southern California opinion leaders and taste makers, addressing a challnge to Western values and ideals and addressing the themes of a major work of non-fiction. 
    •  The Cinema Gateway  previews and premiere screenings of films and documentries which examine issues central to the AFA mission      
     
    WEEKLY PROGRAMS
     
    On our vital websites  you can find a variety of important information about free speech, the consequences of multiculturalism, the effects of moral and cultural relativism  and  the impact of  appeasement.
     
    The Western Word is a weekly on-line magazine which offers news and opinion about challenges to freedom around the world

     Western Word Radio, an internet based  talk radio show which engages some of the greatest political, cultural and social figures in our country in stimulating discussion and debate about our future.

    UPCOMING EVENTS  AND PROGRAMS
     
    Over the next 12 months we intend to expand the range of our activities with a group of new programs, conferences and alliance building which includes: 
            
    • The 2009 Heroes of Conscience Dinner( May 16, 2010)  honoring The International Legal Advocacy Institute and the
    • Is The (Real) News Dead? (June 13-14, 2010) - our annual conference, which will examine the clash between old and new media and the impact of media bias on the delivery of knowledge and information in the modern age.
    • Counterpoint  TV - a monthly  Cable program with guest hosts discussing and debating issues relevant to the future of the West.
    • The International EMP Council  - a new coalition in whose formation the American Freedom Alliance will play a very significant role.  This coalition is designed to address the international threat of an EMP attack on the West and the necessity for an effective missile defense shield coordinated among Western democracies.  
    • The Fairchild Center for Strategic Studies  - the think tank arm of the AFA which will respond to issues as they arise in the media with opinion pieces, media advisories, press releases and televised interviews. 
    • The Literary Cafe and Cinema Gateway programs which will introduce new discussions, websites and  activist opportunites to meet challenges to freedom presented by the Sustainability Movement, the threats to academic freedom and the problems presented by doctinaire thinking on climate change.
