A VICTORY FOR TRUTH

There seems to be second chances in life after all. Philippe Karsenty’s successful appeal regarding the defamation suit brought against him by the France 2 television network was a resounding victory, not just for Karsenty himself, but for the cause of European longevity. Although the verdict of the judge in this case does not judicially “ prove” that the shooting of Muhammed al- Dura was a hoax, the vindication of Karsenty’s allegations – that Palestinian operatives staged the shooting and that France 2 collaborated in its cover up – is a statement to the world that even in politically correct, multicultural France, truth still might be a valued ideal. The fact that the French system of justice ultimately rejected the pernicious media manipulation and outrageous propaganda of France 2 as the basis of a law suit, should provide hope that there remain in France citizens who refuse to be swept into the anti-Enlightenment world view of the French intelligentsia.
Karsenty’s case has often been compared to a French case 100 years ago, the celebrated Dreyfus Affair. While there might be enough dissimilarity between the two cases to render a comparison unhelpful, Dreyfus’ story still does bear repeating.
In 1894 Captain Alfred Dreyfus was a young artillery officer of Jewish background who was in the midst of advanced artillery training with the Army's General Staff. A spy in the German consulate discovered a discarded list in a waste paper basket, detailing the production of a newly designed French Howitzer gun. A culprit was sought.
Dreyfus was suspected for a number of reasons: His artillery training, the German origins of his family, his annual trips to Mülhausen to visit his ailing father, and the fact. that his handwriting was similar to that on the list found at the Consulate. But more persuasive was the fact that Dreyfus was a Jew, a categorization in fin de siecle France, which automatically rendered him suspect. The evidence, proferred by the military investigators, was nevertheless thin at best, and when this was revealed, the French General Staff, fearing exposure of its own failed security measures, set out to fabricate documents that would ultimately implicate Dreyfus and seal his fate. The caustic political and judicial scandal that followed divided French society between Dreyfusards and anti-Dreyfusards, rousing anti-Semitic conduct and rhetoric. Few historians today doubt that anti-Semitism became the fuel that fanned the flames of the Dreyfus Affair.
The accusations against Alfred Dreyfus were eventually demonstrated to be entirely baseless. While the court and its appeals went on for years, it was not until 1906 that he was fully exonerated and reinstated to his position as a Major in the French Army. He later served during the entire period of the First World War as a Lieutenant- Colonel.
The ten year debate over Dreyfus’ innocence wrought a moral cleavage in French society which indisputably weakened the country prior to the First World War. Yet what remains outstanding about the Dreyfus Affair – and is reflected in much of what Karsenty had to endure over the past four years - is the fact that members of the highest echelons of French society were involved in fabricating the hoax. In Dreyfus’ time it was the military. In Karsenty’s, the media. In both cases, anti-Semitism (although in France today it is conveniently disguised as anti-Zionism) powered the hoax and the subsequent cover up.
Karsenty’s trial has not received nearly one tenth the attention of the Dreyfus Affair and that is because no major French news source wishes to be tarred with the same brush as France 2. But his victory does have significance for French society. It is a reminder that all modern democracies must rely on the search and reinforcement of truth as a guiding social principle for continued progress and survival. Abandoning the quest for truth will weaken the society and make it increasingly difficult to defend against the purveyors of ruthless ideologies who traffick in falsehood and misrepresentation and who are bent on the destruction of Western democracy.
What truth, then? Truth about Judaism; truth about Islam; truth about the Arab- Israeli conflict and truth about the deep threats that Europe faces from the scourge of Islamic fundamentalism. It should be finally recognized by French society that the weakened state of their polity is due to the kind of moral relativism, cultural ambiguity,collapse of national identity and policies of appeasement which eventually brought down the Third Republic. It is exactly the same kind of willful blindness to internal threats and an unwillingness to face external realities which now imperils the future of France.
If one can draw a clear moral line between the Fall of France in 1940 to the internal damage wrought by the Dreyfus Affair nearly fifty years earlier, then the Karsenty trial really does convey a powerful message. It is a warning that the country may yet again be threatened by an internal corrosion that cannot be arrested once set in motion.
Unfortunately this time France - and the West of which it is such a vital part - may not have the luxury of a 50 year time span to decide whether the pursuit of truth is an endeavor worth undertaking.

The French Court of Appeals on Wednesday found in favor of Jewish activist Philippe Karsenty, overturning a lower court decision that he had libeled France 2 and its Jerusalem correspondent Charles Enderlin when he accused them of knowingly misleading the watching world about the death of the Palestinian child Muhammad al-Dura in the Gaza Strip in 2000.
"The verdict means we have the right to say France 2 broadcast a fake news report, that [al-Dura's shooting] was a staged hoax and that they duped everybody - without being sued," Karsenty told The Jerusalem Post shortly after the verdict was issued at 1:30 p.m. Paris time.
Al-Dura was filmed cowering with his father, Jalal, behind a barrel at the Gaza Strip's Netzarim junction on September 30, 2000, during an apparent gun battle between Palestinians and IDF troops.

CHRC BEING INVESTIGATED BY RCMP FOR POSSIBLE CRIMINAL CONDUCT
RCMP launches investigation into CHRC tactics-Ezra Levant
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have begun an investigation into alleged criminal conduct by members of the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
The conduct in question was revealed at an extraordinary hearing on March 25th, a hearing the CHRC desperately tried to keep closed to the press. An officer of Bell Canada, appearing under a subpoena, testified that the CHRC had hacked into a private citizen's Internet account, to cover their electronic tracks as they surfed anti-Semitic websites under the alias "Jadewarr". You can read the transcript of the hearing here -- a transcript the CHRC did not release to the public. The victim of the CHRC's illegal hacking, Nelly Hechme, told reporters that she was "completely shocked" by the CHRC's conduct. Canada's Privacy Commissioner, who has jurisdiction over the CHRC, is now investigating the matter. But not even the CHRC's most passionate critics could have imagined that the Mounties would be investigating the CHRC. (Ezralevant)

"American relations with Saudi Arabia should be revised," he said, adding that Saudi Arabia's status as a major oil producer should not mean that its track record ought to be overlooked. What began as a peaceful screening of the documentary, “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West”, Monday afternoon at Columbus (Ohio) State Community College turned to shouts and intimidation as Muslim students confronted students in attendance and Islamofascism Awareness Week event organizers. The video screening was part of Columbus State’s Islamofascism Awareness Week activities hosted by the campus chapter of the Terrorism Awareness Project (TAP), which runs through Wednesday.
According to TAP president Josiah Lanning, commotion began during the first screening of the documentary film and continued to escalate throughout the afternoon. According to Lanning, an individual who identified himself as an Iraqi Muslim began loudly arguing with audience members. After continuing to disrupt the discussion period following the screening, the individual complained that the group was allowed to show the film and warned Lanning not to show the film again. Three screenings of the Fox News documentary, “Jihad USA: Homegrown Terror” are planned for today (Tuesday), and screenings of both “Obsession” and “Jihad USA” planned for Wednesday afternoon. Lanning expressed concerns that more confrontations might be forthcoming this week, as the school hosts a chapter of the Muslim Brotherhood-backed Muslim Student Association. Columbus State, which reportedly has one of the highest Muslim student body representations of any public higher education institution in the country, has previously been the site of threats of violence and intimidation by Muslim students. Last Saturday, Major General Jeffery Hammond, commander of U.S. forces in Baghdad, issued a formal apology to leaders in Radhwaniya, in western Baghdad, after an American soldier used a Qur’an for target practice. The soldier said he didn’t know that the book he used was a Qur’an, but military brass rejected this and announced plans to reassign the soldier to duty within the United States. During what CNN called the “apology ceremony,” Major General Hammond told the assembled Iraqis: “I come before you here seeking your forgiveness. CANNES (AFP)---A French film championing freedom of expression against attempts by Muslim activists to censor caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed highlighted a key front in the culture wars at the Cannes festival.
"It's Hard Being Loved By Jerks" by Daniel Leconte takes as its subject a bitter legal battle by the editor of a French weekly who was acquitted last year on charges of offending Muslims for reprinting the offending cartoons. The landmark trial was seen as an important test for freedom of expression in France, after the publication of the "blasphemous" caricatures sparked violent protests by Muslims worldwide. Philippe Val, who runs the leftist satirical Charlie Hebdo weekly, was sued by two Muslim organizations which argued that the cartoons, first printed by a Danish newspaper, drew an offensive link between Islam and terrorism. One of the three drawings in question was a French cartoonist showing a despondent Mohammed holding his head in his hands, muttering the film's title, under the caption "Mohammed overwhelmed by fundamentalists."

On the 14th of May the Dutch cartoonist Gregorius Nekschot was arrested. Gregorius Nekschot is a pseudonym. Gregorius stands for the name of a pope, Nekschot for "shot through the neck", a method used by socialists of various breeds to get rid of unwanted dissidents. Gregorius Nekschot creates highly controversial cartoons. He himself calls them ‘tasteless cartoons’, and most people agree. By comparison, the Danish cartoons are pure propaganda for Mohammed. Strangely enough, those rather innocent Danish cartoons drew worldwide attention, while Nekschot’s cartoons didn’t. That is over. On the 14th of this month Gregorius was arrested by a team of no fewer than ten police officers. He was taken into custody, and since the District Attorney deemed his works both highly offensive and commercial, he was kept locked up for two days. After release, he was told: "You can forget about anonymity now. They know who you are." This arrest creates a serious political row. The parliament, to their credit, from left to right, wants an explanation from the minister for Justice, Hirsh Balin. By now India has witnessed numerous such acts of unconventional war, where the terrorist is the enemy and innocent people — traveling in a train or a bus, moving in a crowded market place, visiting a place of worship, or doing any other routine chore — are the target. It is a borderless war, in which the enemy can strike anywhere anytime. Some intellectuals do not like to call it ‘war’. But what else is it when it is directed and facilitated from across the Indo-Pak border and, as recent evidence shows, also from across the Indo-Bangladesh border? No act of terror is perpetrated without a purpose. And when such acts do not remain isolated incidents but become part of a recurrent and almost endless series of attacks over an ever-expanding geographical footprint in India, it should be apparent even to the meanest intelligence that the purpose is strategic. The brains behind this low-intensity and long-drawn-out war have themselves stated that their strategic objective, by “bleeding India with a thousand cuts”, is to so weaken and destabilise our country over a period of time that, ultimately, it succumbs to defeat, division and disintegration. Thereafter, the victors hope to hoist their own flag atop the Red Fort. All this and more is recorded in the widely publicised documents of SIMI, Lashkar-e-Toiba, Hizbul-Mujahideen and other organisations that subscribe to the ideology of pan-Islamism. The Holy Koran forbids shedding of innocent blood, exhorting that the killing of even a single innocent person is like killing the entire humanity. LONDON (EJP)---Four synagogues across London have been daubed with anti-Jewish graffiti.
Residents were warned to look out for suspicious activity following the racist attack in north-east London. According to the Evening Standard newspaper, vandals sprayed shops, pavements and walls outside four synagogues in Clapton Common and Stamford Hill with slogans such as "Jihad to Israel" and "Jihad to Tel Aviv." The four synagogues attacked are Chasidey Belz Beth Hemedrash, Satmar Beth Hamedrash Yetev Lev, Aereth Zvi Beth Hamedrash and the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations. In late 2004, France banned the broadcasting of al-Manar through the European Eutelsat satellite system, citing the station's anti-Semitic content. Nevertheless, messages of hate were still being broadcast into the living rooms of Muslims in Germany via satellites controlled by Saudi Arabia and Egypt, ArabSat and NileSat. Exposure to this programming was apparently not without consequences. Rabbi Zalman Gurevitch was wearing a traditional black robe when he left his synagogue in Frankfurt's Westend neighborhood on Sept. 7, 2007. It was the Sabbath. According to the police report, he encountered a 22-year-old German of Afghan descent "spontaneously and coincidentally" a short time later. It was early evening and the man, shouting "You shit Jew, I'm going to kill you," plunged a knife into the rabbi's abdomen. Gurevitch was recognizable as a Jew. He survived, thanks to luck and emergency surgery. Although this attack was an isolated incident, it is hard to overlook how hatred imported from Beirut and Gaza resurfaces in the form of daily acts of anti-Semitism in schools and athletic clubs, on streets and in the subway. Young children raised to be anti-Semitic are already using the phrase "You Jew!" as a derogatory expression in kindergartens and on playgrounds. Schoolchildren berate their teachers, calling them Jew dogs, for not offering Sharia-compatible instruction, and Jewish schoolchildren are attacked and feel compelled to switch to Berlin's Jewish high school and to hide the insignia of their Jewish faith -- the yarmulke and the Star of David -- when in public. Neo-Nazi sentiments were behind the majority of anti-Semitic incidents reported in 2006. At the same time, however, the number of anti-Semitic criminal offences committed by Muslims jumped from 33 to 88.(SpiegelOnline)

UK ANTI-SEMITISM AT IT’S HIGHEST LEVEL
Anti-Semitic violence nears record level -EmilyDugan
The number of anti-Semitic attacks in Britain has reached its second-highest level ever, MPs have been told. Figures from a charity show 547 such incidents were recorded last year, of which a record 114 were violent assaults. The Community Security Trust (CST), which works to protect the Jewish community from persecution, collated the figures by counting every recorded anti-Semitic assault, threat, act of abuse, mass-produced literature and damage and desecration of Jewish property across the country. Just this week, anti-Semitic graffiti was daubed across the pavements and walls of the orthodox Jewish neighbourhood of Stamford Hill in north London. CST say similar incidents happen in Britain every day. Mark Gardner, a spokesman for CST, said: "We have over twice as many incidents being reported to us per annum now than in the 1990s. We're concerned that what we're seeing is not merely because of a difficult time internationally and in the Middle East, but that it's becoming more endemic and we're really, really concerned about that." North Carolina Web Site Said to Be 'Gateway Drug' To Terror
When former Guantanamo inmate Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi blew up an Iraqi police station — and himself — in April, a U.S.-based Web site was quick to post a reaction.
"This is what you call a success story," Revolution.Muslimpad said of the homicide attack, which killed six. It described al-Ajmi as a hero, a "martyrdom bomber" who sacrificed "his life for the sake of Islam." The site is believed to be the brainchild of a 22-year-old American Samir Khan of Charlotte, N.C. When the blog, also called "The Ignored Puzzle Pieces of Knowledge," listed its top "scholars of Islam" and people to "take knowledge from," it wasn't hard to notice that the list of 63 names contained mostly known terrorists — including Usama bin Laden and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. The site provides links to their works, all translated into English. The Internet is seeing a stark rise in the number of hate and terror sites and Web postings, according to a Congressional briefing last week entitled “Hate in the Information Age.” At the briefing, Rabbi Abraham Cooper, an associate dean at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish human rights group based in Los Angeles, presented the organization’s annual study of online terror and hate. He said the group had identified some 8,000 problematic sites in the last 12 months, a 30 percent spike over last year. Contributing to this precipitous rise was the proliferation of Web 2.0 services, which have made it easy to post videos to sites like YouTube and mint hate groups on services like Facebook and MySpace. To the Western peoples in general,
Peace be upon him who follows the guidance.
My speech to you is about the reasons of the struggle between our and your civilizations, meaning the Palestinian issue. This struggle is increasing under your current policy, and I confirm here that the Palestinian issue is the first basic issue of my Ummah. Thus, it was an important factor which motivated me since my childhood as well as the (19) freemen and it created in us a great feeling to defend the oppressed and to punish the Jewish aggressors and their supporters. Then your aggression against us continued in Lebanon and so on, and this was the cause of the September 11th as well as previous and following events, so I draw your attention here and I say to you: There is a precious opportunity for the just ones among you who want to know the truth. The Jews celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of their state and Western leaders take part in it. This celebration has many important significations which I will summarize in three points: Firstly: This event shows clearly that there was no state for Israel 60 years ago, but it was founded on the extorted land of Palestine by military force, and this is the proof that our issue is truthful and that Palestine is our land and the Israelis are occupiers who must be fought. Secondly: This event showed that the majority of your mass media gave up the objectivity and professionalism in this and similar issues. The responsible ones were misleading you during (60) years and turned the truths upside down to show the occupying invading Jews as victims, and on the other hand the oppressed Palestinians demanding ones of their land as terrorist headmen. Here it appears the danger of the dominating mass media which play the role of sorcerers in falsifying the truths and forming a misleading public opinion that put the Western peoples in a position to engage in an unjust war against us illegitimately. This appeared clearly also in the invasion of Iraq, when these mass media propagandized for the lies of the White House’s leader and his followers, and then the Zionist lobby used this mass media to turn the truths upside down to be in favor of the Israelis. Thirdly: The participation of the Western leaders in this celebration confirms that the West supports this unjust Jewish occupation of our land, and they stand with the Israelis in the same trench against us, and they confirmed this practically when they sent their troops to south of Lebanon to support the Jews. The Western politicians are still living with a mentality of the Middle Ages in oppressing the others by occupying their lands, killing their peoples and robbing their riches. This was proved clearly by Bush and Blair in the invasion of Iraq, where they robbed its oil and humiliated its people. Even if Britain enabled the Jews of occupying Palestine through Balfour declaration, and even if the United Nations decided to hand over Palestine to the Jews, these declarations have no value for us and don’t concern us. The one who possesses no thing, gives it to him who does not merit. The United Nations Council is nothing but one of your tools. The peace negotiations which have started (60) years ago and still going on, are not but a means to deceive the stupid ones. And the promises of Bush about a state in the full sense of the word, are nothing but a means to drag the issue and to gain more time, although the Jihad is a duty to free the whole Palestine. Therefore, We understand that the unjust persons tend usually to encroach upon the rights of the others to take their money illegitimately whether by trickery or armed robbery. And if those reached the authority, the things become worse as much as the difference between the power of the state and the power of the armed gang. In our case today, the dispraised terrorism and armed robbery are carried out by the leader of the strongest military force known to humanity, thus the catastrophe is not regional but global. Despite the large tragedies we face in your wars, but we endure and stay honest in fighting the aggressors. But what brings queasiness is that after all this killing, destruction, robbery, lowliness and ribaldries, your politicians still continue on talking about values; this is insupportable, don’t bring together two injustices. If you insisted on robbery you will find worse, be ashamed and stop lying by talking about values. I will give examples from the reality of Palestine which clarify more the issue and show the falseness of your values. The Double standards in the same issue is one of your politicians’ characteristics. You classify the Palestinian organizations as terrorists, thus you make a boycott against them and you punish them while the Israelis kill the civilians from women and children with booby-trapped cars, as what was happened in Yafa and Hayfa etc. And more than that was when the Zionist organizations carried out massacres against the Palestinian villagers to terrorize them, displace them and extort their lands, so what was your attitude towards this? The answer was clear by your dealings with Begin - the well known bloodthirsty of Dir Yaseen massacre, he was the leader of an unjust Zionist organization, he used to slit open the bellies of the pregnant women in the massacre of Dir Yassen. Is there any horrible and ugly terrorism more than this? This is the top of criminality and the bottom of degeneration. Can any man kill a villager woman who had no relation with fighting and slit open her belly while being pregnant? Seeing this horrible crime makes heads hoary and it is unbelievable except that the documents prove it, and more than this there are Israelis who are proud of it and said, if the massacre of Dir Yassen didn’t happen the Palestinians would never leave their lands for us and we would never be there. Then what was the attitude of the West towards Begin? Instead of punishing him for his crimes, he was named and recognized as prime minister; the West wasn’t content with this and they granted him the Nobel Peace Prize. What an aggression and injustice… What a cheapness of the innocents’ bloods…What a mercilessness and savagery…The massacres didn’t stop after Dir Yasseen but they came successively, and today we are living with the massacre of Ghazza which happens before the whole world. One million and a half persons are exposed to the slow death because of malnutrition and lack of medicine due to the murderous siege.More than this, your politicians oblige the governor of Egypt to fasten the siege from his side to stifle the feeble ones most of them are women and children. Then, tell me what is the difference between your values in your contemporary Jahiliyya (state of ignorance) and the values of the Jahiliyya of Haman who supported Pharaoh in killing the children of “Bani Israel” in Egypt. At last, he is not blamed; he who defends his children and shows enmity toward the followers of the unjust Pharaoh’s policy. We will continue in fighting the Israelis and their allies to enforce the right and to defend the oppressed people. And we will never give up even if one span from Palestine “by the permission of Allah” as long as there is one honest Muslim on the ground. “Him who plants the thorns will never reap the grape” And peace be upon him who follows the guidance

Belgian police is protecting a 17th century pulpit in the Flemish town of Dendermonde. The pulpit in the Catholic church of Our Lady dates from 1685, two years after the battle of Vienna when the Christian armies of the Polish King John III Sobieski defeated the Turks poised to overrun Europe. The sculpted wooden pulpit, made by Mattheus van Beveren, depicts a man subdued by angels and represents the triumph of Christianity over Islam. The man is generally thought to be Mohammed. He is holding a book which is generally assumed to be the Koran….Since Friday, we have received threats while the authorities in Belgium, which has a large population of Turkish immigrants, fear that the pulpit and the church may be attacked. Cambridge and Edinburgh Universities announce new Centres for Islamic Studies
The University of Cambridge, the University of Edinburgh and HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of the Kingdom Foundation will today announce plans to create two new research centres for Islamic studies.
Funded by a £16million endowment by Prince Alwaleed which will be shared equally by the two universities, the new centres will aim to carry out both research and public engagement designed to enhance understanding between the Muslim world and the West.
The agreement will be formalised at a signing ceremony at Buckingham Palace today ( Wednesday, May 7 ), attended by both Prince Alwaleed and HRH Prince Philip, who is Chancellor of both universities.
The Cambridge-based HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Centre of Islamic Studies will enable the development of a “constructive and critical awareness of the role of Islam in wider society”, initially through research programmes on Islam in the United Kingdom and Europe, and Islam and the media.

It's a difficult task made even more frustrating by the high degree of self-censorship among liberal media elites. And indeed, the Imam has had various "interfaith" leaders testify on his behalf, as reported by Newsday:
Several Catholic priests and a Jewish rabbi became emotional on the stand when describing how much Qatanani had done for interfaith understanding.
Qatanani is accused of having lied on his immigration documents both about his arrest and conviction in Israel (which he now claims was merely a "detention") and his confession that he was a member of Hamas (which he now claims was procured under torture).  "Protesting Siege... Hamas Calls on Masses to Flock to Bayt Hanun Crossing"
On the anniversary of Al-Nakbah ["the catastrophe" - reference to the events that befell the Palestinians in 1948] and in order to continue the activities aimed at breaking the siege, Hamas has called on the Palestinian masses to head to the main gate of the Bayt Hanun-Erez Crossing in an escalatory step to break the siege imposed on the Palestinian people.
Hamas's public activities spokesman Ashraf Abu-Diyah urged our people in the Gaza and northern governorates to flock to the main gate of the Bayt Hanun Crossing, controlled by the Zionist occupation forces, following noon prayers on 15 May in an angry mass uprising to break the suffocating siege imposed on our people.
Abu-Diyah said that this move will constitute a strong message to the Zionist enemy that our people cannot abide by this stifling siege and slow death that they are being subjected to, and that they are intent on breaking this siege by any and all means since they have reached the end of their tether. He also said that all options are now open to the Palestinian people to combat the siege that weighs heavily upon them, compounding their suffering. Abu-Diyah also warned that the continued siege and utter paralysis in all sectors will trigger that greatest humanitarian disaster in history.
Abu-Diyah called on the Arab and Islamic peoples to support their brethren in Gaza and stage angry mass uprisings in the Arab capitals, wondering how long the Arab regimes would remain in a state of suspended animation, and if they would awaken from their slumber before the Palestinian people are wiped out. He called on said regimes to shoulder their moral and religious responsibilities and take a clear, bold stance against the siege that has lasted for nearly a year.
Abu-Diyah further called on all local and international media outlets to cover this event organized by Hamas to break the siege and expose this Zionist enemy by conveying the true image of the crime committed against our people.

‘Secular systems have no legality and authority and should be rejected by Muslims’
Secularism is Kufr, Whoever accepts that evil is outside the fold of Islam-from a Jihad Forum
Secularism is defined in the Webster dictionary as: “A system of doctrines and practices that rejects any form of religious faith and worship” or “The belief that religion and ecclesiastical affairs should not enter into the function of the state especially into public education.”
There is no doubt that secularism contradicts Islam in every aspect. They are two different paths that never meet; choosing one means rejecting the other. Hence, whoever chooses Islam has to reject secularism. In the following, we go in the details of explaining why.
1- First, secularism makes lawful what Allah has made unlawful.
The Rule of Allah (Shari`ah) is compulsory and has basic laws and regulations that cannot be changed. Some of these laws are concerned with the acts of worship, the relations between men and women, etc.
What is the position with regard to these laws?
Secularism makes adultery lawful if the male and the female are consenting adults.
As for Riba (interest on money), it is the basis of all financial transactions in secular economies. On the contrary, Allah says:
“O you who believe, fear Allah and leave what comes from Riba if you are believers. If you do not do so, then wait for a war from Allah and His Messenger.” ( TMQ Surah Al-Baqarah: 278)
As for alcohol, all secular systems allow the consumption of alcohol and make selling it a lawful business.
2- Second, secularism is clear unbelief (Kufr).
Secularism is based on separating religion from all the affairs of this life and hence, it rules by law and regulations other than Allah’s laws. Hence, secularism rejects Allah’s rules with no exception and prefers regulations other than Allah’s and His Messenger’s. In fact, many secularists claim that Allah’s laws might have been suitable for the time they were revealed but are now outdated.
As a result, most of the laws governing the daily affairs of life in the countries ruled by secular systems contradict Islam. Allah says:
“Do they seek a judgment of Ignorance? But, who, for a people whose faith is assured, can give better judgment than Allah?” (TMQ Surah Al-Maidah: 50)
Ibn Katheer said in the Tafseer of this verse that Allah is denouncing those who reject His ruling and accept other rulings that are not based on the Shari`ah of Allah. Whoever does so is indeed a non-believer. Indeed, belief in Allah can never go with the acceptance of other than His rulings in one’s heart. Allah says:
“If any do fail to judge by what Allah has revealed, they are non-believers.” (TMQ Surah Al-Maidah: 44)
From the above, the status of secularism and its relation to Islam are clear. But the ignorance about the Islamic truth is still dominating the Muslim’s mind. Most secular systems repeat slogans like “no religion in politics and no politics in religion” or “religion is for Allah, and the state is for the people.” Such sayings portray their view of Islam as a religion to be practiced in the masjid only, and that it should not be allowed to rule life outside the masjid. Furthermore, they try to deceive people with democratic slogans like “personal freedom” and “people governing people.” That means that people come first and no place is made for the ruling of Allah.
This is why secularism is clear Kufr, this is why secular systems have no legality and authority and should be rejected by Muslims.
