In June, 2012 the American Freedom Alliance will convene an international conference to examine the threats of global governance ideology to the concept of national sovereignty and to the strength and viability of American constitutional democracy.

This conference will ask major political and intellectual leaders from North America, Europe, Israel, Australia and Asia to examine whether the forces of global governance are successfully challenging the very concept of national sovereignty in the U.S., Europe, and Israel. It will discuss the significance of the rise of transnational law at the U.S. Supreme Court and explore the role of human rights NGOs such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch in determining the laws of war - that is, the rules by which American (and Israeli, British, Canadian, Australian, etc.) soldiers can engage with and defend themselves against the enemy.

It will address the policies of the United Nations towards the United States and Israel and examine the lack of democratic accountability in an increasingly centralized “post-national” European Union in which sovereignty is either pooled or shared.

Finally, with the coming Presidential campaign, the conference will address some issues central to the continuity of the American republic as an independent polity: what does the defense of democratic sovereignty mean for American foreign policy? How can we implement a vigorous defense of sovereign self-government so that it becomes a central issue in the foreign policy debate? How do we change the conventional foreign policy narrative -promulgated incessantly by establishment outlets in the media and the academy -which insists that national sovereignty has become obsolete and that we live in a “post-American” world?

Ultimately,what sovereignty issues should the current Presidential campaign address?
